PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Harpers Ferry NPS staff are developing a timeline program that will cover the early years of Harpers Ferry and the Federal Arsenal there. The program focus is on the timeframe of the influence of the US Armory – 1799 to 1861. The military timeline reflects those periods which had some direct connection to Harpers Ferry and the US Armory. Interpreters representing historic military organizations from the late 1790s to the beginning of the Civil War will tell the story of the Arsenal and its impact of American history. The Marine Corps Historical Company will provide an interpretive team to represent the Marines of those eras.
